YOUR CAMP FORTUNE SKI PATROL

The Camp Fortune Ski Patrol is made up of about 80 members. Whenever you are here, you will recognize us by our distinctive yellow and blue jackets.

Our purpose is to enhance your fun and safety at Camp Fortune. In the process, we typically have a great time too. We are here to help from everything from just getting back to the other side, to lost kids, minor falls to serious hard falls and possible injuries.

While many will encounter the patrol for the first time when they need our help, we would encourage you to find out more about your Patrol. What we do know is that you will see it our pride and professionalism, what we hope you will see is a group of capable, fun and caring people who take pride in what we do, on the hill, in the clinic and covering events across the Ottawa and Gatineau Region.

Most of your Fortune Patrol is made up of volunteers who commit to the annual training and certification requirements and to serving over 15 days of volunteer time each year. While you can sleep in on Sunday morning or head home when it is cold, icy or raining; your Patrol is dedicated in opening the hill at 8:30 a.m. each morning and remain, regardless of the conditions until after 4 p.m. When there is night skiing, an evening patrol crew is on duty from 4 p.m. until the hills close at 10 p.m.

While there is always a turnover in any volunteer organization, we are proud of our retention rate with many experienced patrollers who provide the core and share their experience with the new recruits who join us each year.
